Investing in the Future of the Mechanical Industry

Hero Image

At American Mechanical Services, we believe our responsibility extends beyond the work we perform in the field. Supporting the long-term strength of the mechanical industry requires active involvement in education, workforce development, and industry leadership.

Across our organization, our employees contribute their time and experience to help shape the next generation of skilled professionals and support the systems that keep our industry moving forward.

Supporting Apprenticeship and Training

Our team is actively involved in apprenticeship programs throughout the state. We have field technicians who serve on the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATC) for both Plumbers Local 3 and Pipefitters Local 208, helping guide training standards and program direction.

In addition, several of our employees serve as instructors, with three supporting Plumbers Local 3 and seven supporting Pipefitters Local 208. We also have three instructors teaching the Professionalism in Construction curriculum for the Western States College of Construction.

This level of involvement ensures that training stays aligned with real-world expectations and that apprentices are prepared for the demands of the field.

Industry Leadership and Representation

Our leadership team is also engaged at the organizational level, helping address broader industry challenges.

General Manager Matt Sweetser serves as a trustee for the Pipe Industry Health, Welfare and Annuity fund, contributing to discussions around healthcare, pension, and benefits that directly impact our workforce.

Director of Operations Dave Richardson serves as Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Mechanical Contractors Association (RMMCA) and as Secretary of the Western States College of Construction, supporting both industry advocacy and education initiatives.

A Commitment to the Bigger Picture

We recognize that the future of our industry depends on more than individual projects. It depends on strong training programs, sustainable benefits structures, and leadership that is willing to stay involved.

That’s why we actively support our employees in taking the time needed to contribute, whether that’s in the classroom, on a committee, or at the board level.

Looking Ahead

By staying engaged in education, workforce development, and industry leadership, we’re helping build a stronger foundation for the future of the mechanical trades.

It’s an investment not just in our company, but in the industry as a whole.
